Con sólo echar un vistazo a la portada de Perfect Symmetry (2008) ya queda claro que Keane ha dado un buen giro a su estética, ya que en esta portada hay formas geométricas en vez de los elementos más elaborados y vintage de discos anteriores. No resulta sorprendente que con la música de Perfect Symmetry ocurra lo mismo, ya que el grupo se inclina de forma llamativa por adoptar influencias del synth-pop. Si bien la voz quejumbrosa de Tom Chaplin señala la vía necesaria para encontrar algo familiar en este disco, los arreglos por lo general están marcados por los ritmos y cargados de teclados, de forma que en algunos puntos el disco se adentra en el territorio del techno. Aunque este disco no suponga un giro absoluto (ahí está "Love Is the End", una pieza cargada de dolor y en la que el principal instrumento es el piano), apunta a cambios bien marcados con los que se adentran en nuevos géneros.
