Little May

Little May's moody, atmospheric indie rock emerged from Sydney in the early to mid-2010s. Expanding their sound from acoustic, harmony-rich origins to grittier, mostly electric textures, they've maintained a contemplative sound established on their 2015 major-label debut, For the Company. Putting a premium on three-part vocal harmonies, Little May was formed by Liz Drummond, Hannah Field, and Annie Hamilton, all self-taught musicians who had attended the same high school. They were playing music festivals and selling out headlining shows in Sydney by the following year, and released an eponymous EP in 2014. Later that year, Little May signed with Capitol and Australia's Dew Process, which issued For the Company, their first full-length, in October 2015. Co-produced by Aaron Dessner of the National, it added electronics to the mix and reached the Top 40 in Australia. After touring in support of the album, Hamilton left the group, eventually releasing a solo debut single in 2018. Without abandoning folk influences or acoustic guitars completely, Drummond and Field more fully embraced the edgier timbres introduced on For the Company on the follow-up, Blame My Body. It arrived via Dew Process/Universal in 2019.
