Qué mejor que un cofre de 4 CD para resumir la carrera de este artista tempranamente desaparecido. En 2017 la repentina muerte de Tom Petty acongojaba a todos los fans del rock’n’roll dignos de tal nombre, pero su esposa Dana y su hija Adria han preferido afrontar el proceso de duelo trabajando en este An American Treasure. Teniendo en cuenta que quedaban por descubrir muchos tesoros inéditos, y respaldados por el productor Ryan Ulyate, Mike Campbell y Benmont Tench (los miembros de su banda) se han puesto también seriamente a la tarea. La selección incluye de este modo demos, versiones alternativas de temas conocidos y también lives, con el objetivo de mostrarnos la evolución del líder de los Heatbreakers. Desde unos outtakes de 1976 (Surrender) a ciertas versiones alternativas de 1979 (Louisiana Rain), pasando por unas demos de 1984 (The Apartment Song), todo aquí suena brillante e intenso gracias a la cuidadosa labor de remasterisation de Chris Bellman, que se había enfrentado anteriormente a las cintas de Diana Ross, Rick James y otros artistas de la Motown. Una obra póstuma que pasa revista a los comienzos de Tom Petty con los Heartbrakers, pero también a sus pinitos con el grupo Mudcrutch o a su carrera en solitario mediante 60 temas en Hi-Res 24Bit. Atendiendo a la cronología, la antología termina con un directo de 2016, Hungry No More. Qué mejor que un cofre de 4 CD para resumir la carrera de este artista tempranamente desaparecido. En 2017 la repentina muerte de Tom Petty acongojaba a todos los fans del rock’n’roll dignos de tal nombre, pero su esposa Dana y su hija Adria han preferido afrontar el proceso de duelo trabajando en este An American Treasure. Teniendo en cuenta que quedaban por descubrir muchos tesoros inéditos, y respaldados por el productor Ryan Ulyate, Mike Campbell y Benmont Tench (los miembros de su banda) se han puesto también seriamente a la tarea. La selección incluye de este modo demos, versiones alternativas de temas conocidos y también lives, con el objetivo de mostrarnos la evolución del líder de los Heatbreakers. Desde unos outtakes de 1976 (Surrender) a ciertas versiones alternativas de 1979 (Louisiana Rain), pasando por unas demos de 1984 (The Apartment Song), todo aquí suena brillante e intenso gracias a la cuidadosa labor de remasterisation de Chris Bellman, que se había enfrentado anteriormente a las cintas de Diana Ross, Rick James y otros artistas de la Motown. Una obra póstuma que pasa revista a los comienzos de Tom Petty con los Heartbrakers, pero también a sus pinitos con el grupo Mudcrutch o a su carrera en solitario mediante 60 temas en Hi-Res 24Bit. Atendiendo a la cronología, la antología termina con un directo de 2016, Hungry No More.
