Unbelievable Truth
Named after a film by American director Hal Hartley, the Brit-pop trio Unbelievable Truth were formed in Oxford, England, in 1994 by singer/guitarist Andy Yorke (the younger brother of Radiohead's acclaimed frontman, Thom Yorke), bassist Jason Moulster, guitarist Jim Crosskey, and drummer Nigel Powell. Debuting in 1997 with the single "Building," the group built a growing fan base on the strength of a series of EPs, including Stone and Higher Than Reason, before issuing the full-length Almost Here in 1998. Although Unbelievable Truth's contract with Virgin Records was not renewed for a second album, the band partnered with a new label, Shifty Disco, before releasing Sorrythankyou in 2000. That same year also saw the dissolution of the band, with frontman Yorke announcing his intention to pursue a solo career. Misc. Music was posthumously released the following year, collecting B-sides and footage from the band's final show in September 2000.
