Su testamento musical. El capítulo final. Abbey Road, lanzado en septiembre de 1969, supone realmente el último capítulo discográfico de los Beatles pues Let It Be, que aparecerá en mayo de 1970, fue grabado con anterioridad. Un adiós donde sobresale la calidad compositiva, la maestría melódica y el equilibrio armónico. Una vez más la paleta sonora resulta muy extensa, ya hablemos de baladas estremecedoras o de temas decididamente más rítmicos (Come Together). Abbey Road nos recuerda también que al margen del tutelar tándem Lennon/McCartney, George (Here Comes The Sun) y Ringo (Octopus's Garden) no están ahi simplemente para hacer bonito… Pero cristalizar esta obra maestra, así como su éxito inmediato, no impedirá sin embargo a los Fab Four poner fin a su carrera en común. Un divorcio que se haría oficial en abril de 1970. El más influyente grupo se convirtió en lo que fue dedicando no más de siete años a los estudios de grabación… © MZ/Qobuz
