Tampoco resulta tan sorprendente un dúo formado por Sting y Shaggy. En 1979 Police editaba Reggatta de Blanc, su segundo álbum de influencia jamaicana, que se sumaba a la oleada punky-reggae que inundaba las islas británicas y comandada por gente como Clash, PIL, Ruts, Madness o el propio Bob Marley. Fascinado desde entonces por los ritmos caribeños, Gordon Sumner AKA Sting jamás ha perdido su fe en ellos. Así que cuando su manager Martin Kierszenbaum, que también lleva los asuntos de Shaggy, le puso el último temazo rompepistas del jamaicano, a nuestro bajista y vocalista le faltó tiempo para dejar su mansión de Malibú y proponerle formar tándem. Y la unión de Shaggy y el ex Police se ha concretado en un primer single, Don't Make Me Wait, y seis meses más tarde en este 44/876. De Crooked Tree a Dreaming In The USA, que apuesta por la recuperación del dañado sueño norteamericano, nos encontramos con un cóctel de reggae, dancehall y pop pegadizo que irriga un álbum de lo más sorprendente, y que mantiene sobradamente el tipo a lo largo de toda su duración.
