Sajid-Wajid Khan

Former Bollywood music directing duo Sajid & Wajid, consisting of Sajid Khan and his late brother Wajid Khan, always had music running through their veins: their father is renowned tabla player Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan. Initially starting out on his own as a solo artist, Sajid Khan later teamed up with his brother and the pair kicked off their career by scoring the music to the Salman Khan-starring hit Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy film Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya in 1998. The following year, they stepped up to score the music for Indian playback singer Sonu Nigam's album Deewaana, also coming on board as music directors for the 1999 Indian Hindi-language romantic fantasy action film Hello Brother, once again starring Salman Khan. The brothers forged a successful and prolific career as music directors during the 2000s and 2010s, picking up multiple awards for 2010 Hindi-language action comedy film Dabangg, which also starred Salman Khan. The movie earned Sajid & Wajid a Filmfare Award for Best Music Direction in 2011 and a Star Screen Award, also for Best Music Direction, among other awards. They scored two other non-film albums as music directors: 2001's Khoya Khoya Chand by singers Alka Yagnik and Babul Supriyo and 2005's Tera Intezar by singer Rahul Vaidya. The pair worked on three films together as music directors in 2019: Family Of Thakurganj, Dabangg 3 and Pagalpanti, with Wajid Khan undergoing a kidney transplant operation that year. On June 1, 2020, Wajid Khan passed away at the age of 43 due to serious complications from COVID-19. Sajid Khan has continued to work as a solo music director.
