Brray

Brray is a prolific singer, songwriter, and rapper from Puerto Rico. His work crisscrosses hip-hop, reggaeton, trap, and cumbia, often with Latin pop hooks. His reedy baritone rides atop layered rhythms while he improvises melodies and hooks on the spot. Since making his streaming chart debut with "Traficando" in 2015, he has issued well over 125 singles and collaborations, and his videos have registered tens of millions of views. Abundancia, his debut album from 2016, featured contributions from Joyce Santana and Darell. That year he penned the smash "Pa 'Que le De" for Bad Bunny. In 2017 he participated on the remix of Santana's chart-topping hit "Así." In 2021 he was part of Nio Garcia's studio crew for both "La Jeepeta" and its charting remix. He signed to Universal Music and issued several charting singles including "Te Pue' Cuidar." He released Err Bambini, his debut Universal long-player. Its 24 songs employed 28 producers and 20 guest artists including Santana, Rauw Alejandro, Nicky Jam, Rafa Pabön, Zion, and Darell. Brray was born Bryan García Quinones in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Though he loved music as a youngster, he focused most of his energies on baseball. Encouraged by his family, he played on many travel teams and sought to make the jump to the minor leagues after high school, but his plans were scuttled at age 17 when he suffered a debilitating injury. He shifted his focus to music and initially sought to become a songwriter rather than a performer. He began studying the work of other artists and producers and wrote his first songs in 2012. By chance in 2013, he met Young Martino, producer for Joyce Santana. Martino saw the younger man's potential and agreed to help him. The following year, at the age of 21, Brray released "No Sé Si Sabias" and "Me Siento Bien" alongside Santana. Both songs were produced by Martino and well-received. The following year he released several songs online, which increased his popularity. His Martino-produced debut album, Abundancia, was released in October 2016 and became a regional hit. That summer he penned the smash "Pa 'Que le De" for Bad Bunny and appeared on the track as a collaborator. Brray's taste of success made him hungrier: He threw himself into writing and recording. He issued the follow-up singles "Quién Es Brray?" and "Mood," and collaborated with Santana on "Tu Break," "En El Amor no Creen," and "Bajo Sustancias," and participated on the all-star remix of his global smash "Asi." Other collaborators included Myke Towers, Nio Garica, and Casper Magico, whose "Si la Saco" Brray also collaborated on. In addition to a slew of collaborative appearances, he issued the singles "Tira y Jala," "Sigo Esperando," "Ponte Pa’ Mí," "No Eres Tú, Soy Yo," and "Como Lo Menea" in 2018. In 2019 he was everywhere. In addition to releasing his own "Sheesh" (and its remix) and "Préndelo" with Juanka, he was a featured collaborator on Izaak's "Hey Shorty 2," Green Cookie's "Pitcher," and Paulino Rey's "Machoqueo," to name a few. At the beginning of 2020 "La Jeepeta" by Garcia, Brray, and Juanka was released. Its video racked up 43 million views in a couple of months, and the track went to the top of the streaming Latin charts in the process of becoming a pop culture phenomenon. Brray was riding high, his singles "Medusa" and "Empeliculiao y Teddy" (ft. Eladio Carrión) charted, as did "Only Fans," "Traficando," and "Frio." At the very end of the year, the remix for "La Jeepeta" -- that also featured Anuel AA and Myke Towers -- registered at number one in more than a dozen countries and netted Brray a Premio Lo Nuestra award. He signed to Universal music in early 2021 and released the ska-hip-hop fusion single "Pamela" with Chimbala and KITTAH, and the electro-urbano trap dancefloor smash "Sin Menta." He and Juanka collaborated on Karol G's smash "Arranca Pal Carajo." He recorded "Pamela," "Sin Mente," and "Jeringonza," and released "Domingo de Bote" with Rafa Pabön. With Lyanno, he appeared on Santana's hit "El Leash." In November, Brray issued his sprawling Universal debut album, Err Bambini. Composed of a whopping 24 tracks, the set included more than 20 collaborating artists including Santana, De la Ghetto, Rey, Nengo Flow, and Rauw Alejandro, as well as 28 producers who included Martino. Following its release, Brray returned to his prolific release and collaboration schedules. He issued half a dozen singles in 2022, among them, remixes of "De Una" and "Nivel Dios." He participated in more than 18 single releases in 2023 including seven of his own. He charted with "Paralelos," (feat. Polima Westcoast and Pailita) and the smash "Corazon Roto pt. 3" with Anuel AA, Chencho Corleone, Jayco and Ryan Castro; it registered more than 200 million streams. Brray initiated 2024 with January's charting, "Mis Amigas."
