Tall Heights

A duo based out of Boston, Massachusetts, Tall Heights made their full-length debut in 2013 with an intimate indie folk that they soon expanded upon. Their major-label debut, 2016's Neptune, introduced an evocative, atmosphere-driven pop that drew from both progressive folk and electro-tinged indie pop. All along, they put a premium on the blended, lyrical vocal harmonies of Tim Harrington and Paul Wright. The duo has toured with acts including Ben Folds, Cake, and Judah & the Lion, and doubled as Folds' backing band. In 2022 they issued the poignant Juniors, which dealt with themes of grief, loss, and cautious hope. Founded in 2010 by Harrington (vocals/guitar) and Wright (vocals/cello), who first collaborated as high-schoolers in their hometown of Sturbridge, Massachusetts, Tall Heights spent their early days musically patrolling the streets of Boston -- they funded their debut album with a marathon 100-day busking session. After issuing a pair of independent EPs (Rafters and Running of the Bulls) in 2011 and 2012, they released their debut LP, 2013's Man of Stone. All three outings reflected the well-honed, acoustic-based sound that they had been perfecting on the city streets over the years. They expanded that sound on 2015's Holding On, Holding Out EP, which introduced drums, electric guitar, and keyboard into the mix. The duo inked a deal with Sony Masterworks shortly thereafter, and in 2016 released their full-length major-label debut, Neptune. Featuring a still broader, electronics-shaded palette, it was co-produced by Oliver Hill and Steve Wall, both of whom reteamed with Tall Heights for the duo's third album, Pretty Colors for Your Actions. It arrived via Sony Masterworks in 2018. Tall Heights spent much of that year on tour, including headlining runs and amphitheater dates in support of Ben Folds and Cake. A string of singles arrived in 2021, including the lush "Hear It Again" and the heartfelt ballads "Raindrop" and "The Mountain." Both songs appeared on 2022's inward-looking Juniors.
