Hesitation Wounds

A particularly aggressive hardcore punk band helmed by Touché Amoré's ragged-voiced frontman Jeremy Bolm, Hesitation Wounds also borrows its members from bands like the Hope Conspiracy, Trap Them, and Gouge Away. The band quickly won fans with their punishing 2016 debut, Awake for Everything, returning three years later to follow it up with 2019's similarly blistering Chicanery. Bolm formed Hesitation Wounds as a side project with a simple premise. He wanted to gather a few friends from bands he admired, pound out some heavy music very quickly, and release it. This spontaneous format worked like a charm when in May 2012 he met with guitarist Neeraj Kane (the Hope Conspiracy, the Suicide File), bassist Stephen Lacour (Trap Them, True Cross), and drummer Jay Weinberg (Against Me!, Slipknot) and the quartet wrote an EP's worth of song in a matter of hours, then recorded them the next day. The band's massive hardcore sound resembled the sum of its membership and found a willing audience when self-titled EP was released in April 2013. After returning to their primary bands, the members reconvened a few years later and wrote their entire first album in three days. Released in 2016 by Deathwish Inc., Awake for Everything was an abrasive, passionate set that danced thematically between turmoil both personal and political. Following another break, Hesitation Wounds endured their first lineup change with Gouge Away drummer Thomas Cantwell replacing Weinberg, who left to join Slipknot. This quartet recorded and released the brief but mighty Chicanery LP in August 2019.
