Shahrukh Khan

Already a seasoned Bollywood actor and film producer by the time that he first turned his hand to music, Indian celebrity Shah Rukh Khan (born November 2nd, 1965 in New Delhi) first found himself serving as the face of others’ hits, doubling up as a playback singer throughout much of his on-screen oeuvre before actually laying down his own vocals. Over the years, popular songs attributed to Khan’s characters have included Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Sonu Nigam’s “Kal Ho Naa Ho”, the title track from the 2003 romance film of the same; Roop Kumar Rathod’s “Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai”, which appeared in the 2008 motion picture Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi; and Pritam and Arijit Singh’s “Hawayein”, featured in the 2017 rom-com Jab Harry Met Sejal. Occasionally, however, the Red Chillies Entertainment CEO has made genuine musical contributions to his films. Upon the release of the box office smash Josh (2000), in which he had a starring role, he struck gold with the Hema Sardesai duet “Apun Bola Tu MerI Laila”, and by 2004, he was touring as a singer and dancer alongside peers Arjun Rampal and Priyanka Chopra in the international stage production Temptations 2004. He has since lent his voice to various other projects, including the movies Don (2006) and Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012), and has also written lyrics for Always Kabhi Kabhi (2011), amidst a prolific acting career which has since continued to involve ample lip-syncing.
