F.E.A.R., der Name des achtzehnten Studioalbums von Marillion, steht ausgeschrieben für die Textzeile "Fuck Everyone and Run". So provokativ wie im Titel gibt sich die Band musikalisch aber nicht: Die Gruppe setzt auf große, schwelgerische Prog-Rock-Epen, deren wehmütiger, fließender Sound manchmal an Pink Floyd erinnert. Tatsächlich ist der Albumtitel eher resigniert zu verstehen, wie Frontmann Steve Hogarth erklärt: Im vierteiligen Epos "The New Kings" geht es um den "Jeder ist sich selbst der Nächste"-Kampf, der im modernen Kapitalismus entbrannt ist, "El Dorado" thematisiert die politischen Entwicklungen in Großbritannien. Das Album erreichte Platz 10 der deutschen Albumcharts.
