Tove Styrke

Swedish singer Tove Styrke emerged with a progressive electronic pop sound similar to Robyn and Annie, scoring her first hit in 2010 with "White Light Moment." That track appeared on her platinum-certified self-titled debut, which landed her in the Swedish Top Ten. Subsequent efforts Kiddo and Sway were also chart hits in her homeland, while singles such as "Borderline," "Mistakes," and "Bara du och jag" were all certified gold. Born in the university town of Umea, Vasterbotten in 1992, Tove Anna Linnea Ostman Styrke was inspired to pursue a performing career by her ballet instructor mother and her father, Anders Ostman, who scored a Swedish number one in the '70s. Encouraged by her piano teacher grandfather, she took up the instrument at a young age, and -- influenced by the likes of Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, and Simon & Garfunkel -- became a vocalist in a traditional jazz band in her teens. She entered the 2009 Swedish version of Pop Idol, where, thanks to impressive renditions of tracks by Michael Jackson, Katy Perry, and the Beatles, she finished third behind runner-up Calle Kristiansen and winner Erik Gronwall. Following the show, she signed a deal with Sony Records, and began working on her self-titled debut album with co-writers Patrik Berger, Lykke Li, and Shout Out Louds' Adam Olenius. Released in 2010, the Swedish Grammy-nominated Tove Styrke spawned two hit singles, "Million Pieces" and "White Light Moment," and went platinum in her home country. After the release of her Borderline EP, she issued her sophomore effort, Kiddo (RCA), in 2015. The album contained the singles "Borderline" and "Ego" and was promoted with international tour dates and television appearances. Two years later, Styrke returned with "Say My Name" and "Mistakes." After the completion of a late-2017 tour with Bleachers and Bishop Briggs, Styrke released "Changed My Mind" in early 2018. That trio of tracks landed on her third album, Sway, which arrived later that May. Styrke spent the remainder of the decade collaborating with artists such as Alma ("Good Vibes"), Clean Bandit ("Last Goodbye"), Lost Kings ("Stuck"), NOTD ("Been There, Done That"), and Ritual ("Love Me Back"). She also joined the cast of the eleventh season of the Swedish reality show Så mycket bättre. In 2021, Styrke returned with the single "Mood Swings." A collaboration with Cheat Codes and Travis Barker ("All Things $ Can Do") and "Start Walking" rounded out the year. She kicked off 2022 with "Show Me Love."
