Thomas Buckner
Thomas Buckner (born 1941) is an American baritone, composer and producer who has been recognized as "the voice of the Downtown music scene" in New York City. It was in Berkeley, California however that Buckner got his start, both as a vocalist specializing in new music and as co-founder of 1750 Arch Records and its associated ensembles. In 1983 Buckner dissolved 1750 Arch and relocated to New York, associating himself with the work of Robert Ashley and the Private Parts trilogy. In the 1990s he appeared in works by David First and in the experimental group The Act of Finding, as well as in his own works for 'Improvising Baritone'. Buckner has also appeared with Jazz artists such as Roscoe Mitchell and Henry Threadgill.
