THE BLSSM

Based in Los Angeles, the BLSSM is a Sydney-born singer/songwriter known for their fusion of moody 1990s-indebted alt-rock, hip-hop beats, and melodic pop hooks. Led by the breakout single "Hardcore Happy," they released their debut EP, 97 Blossom, in 2021, followed a year later by a second EP, Pure Energy. The child of Australian blues-rocker Mark Lizotte (aka Diesel), Lily Lizotte was immersed in music from a young age and eventually left their native Sydney for Brooklyn, New York, and later Los Angeles. Under the moniker the BLSSM, they forged a unique sound that was rooted in grungy organic alt-rock but incorporated a range of other styles, from rap and electronic to acoustic and lo-fi bedroom pop. After debuting with 2020's dreamy "Kill My Mind," the BLSSM found traction with the catchy downtempo cut "Hardcore Happy" which served as the centerpiece of their debut EP. Featuring production from members of Brockhampton, 97 Blossom was released on the group's Video Store label in 2021. Within a year, the BLSSM had been picked up by Fueled by Ramen, which issued their follow-up EP, 2022's Pure Energy.
