Simply Jeff
West Coast DJ Simply Jeff (Jeff Adachi), once known as DJ Spinn during the mid-'80s while working at Los Angeles radio hot spots like KROQ and MARS-FM, headed Funk-da-Fried Therapeutics, a progressive-leaning club night that allowed him to spin everything from chunky trip-hop and downtempo to trance and rave on the same night. He debuted early in the '90s with tracks recorded for Moonshine as X-Calibur (with Brian Scott). After forming the Orbit Transmission label, Jeff released more material during 1995-1996 as X-Calibur and the DJ's Project (with Scott, DJ Dan, and Scratchmaster DJ Rectangle). By 1997, Jeff had released his first mix album, Funk-Da-Fried. A second volume appeared one year later, and in 2000, Jeff returned with Funky Instrumentalist. He also issued the occasional 12", as well as additional mixes like Bring It Back (2005) and Electro Shock (2010).
