Simon Love

Simon Love (born Simon Stone) is a Welsh singer/songwriter best known for fronting the '60s-influenced indie pop group the Loves, who released four full-length albums and several singles and EPs from their inception in 2000 to their dissolution in 2011. Known for his wry wit and clever, melodic pop arrangements, Love later launched a solo career with the 2015 album It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time. He produced two more solo outings over the coming years including 2022's Love, Sex & Death Etc. Following the Loves' disbandment, Love played guitar in Knickers, who released a 7" EP on Elefant Records in 2012. He also contributed a few covers (including songs by Daniel Johnston and They Might Be Giants) to compilations before beginning work on solo material. Love's debut solo full-length, It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time, appeared on Fortuna Pop in 2015. The album was a bitter, obscenity-filled, bleakly humorous collection of ornately orchestrated pop songs about the dark side of love, relationships, and friendships. Following a brief 2016 EP titled Tennis Fan, Love returned in 2018, this time on Germany's Tapete label, to release his follow-up, Sincerely, S. Love X. Love continued to explore his chosen range of themes on 2022's Love, Sex & Death Etc, another wryly delivered collection of love songs, hate songs, and relationship missives.
