Matisse
Idioma disponible: inglésThe Mexican pop trio Matisse was formed by Mexicali natives Pablo Preciado and Román Torres in the early 2010s. The pair met while studying music in Guadalajara and began collaborating after relocating to Mexico City. Soon enough, they established themselves as a celebrated songwriting duo, penning songs for pop juggernauts like Carlos Rivera, Alejandra Guzmán, and Cristian Castro. Inspired by a Henri Matisse painting in Leonel García's studio, the group adopted the name Matisse and recruited fellow singer Melissa Robles for their first single "La Misma Luna," released in 2014. That same year, they collaborated with American pop duo Ha*Ash on their song "Sé Que Te Vas." Sube, Matisse's studio debut, appeared in 2015 and earned them a nomination to the Latin Grammy Awards in the category of Breakthrough Artist of the Year. Preceded by the single "Todavía," a second album titled Por Tu Bien saw the light in 2017 and was promoted through a series of shows in the US opening for Reik. In 2019, both bands collaborated together for the first time on the romantic ballad "Eres Tú," which was later included in their third album Tres (2020). Following a series of collaborative singles featuring Carlos Sadness, Francisca Valenzuela, and Abel Pintos, Matisse paid tribute to Regional Mexican music on their 2022 LP Así de Enamorados. Also in 2022, their single "Pasa" with Fonseca peaked at Number 47 on the Mexican charts.
