Idioma disponible: inglésCountry singer and songwriter Leah Turner grew up on a Morongo Valley, California ranch, the daughter of a championship rodeo headliner, and she was exposed to country music early, writing her first songs when she was only six. While attending college at UCSB, she gravitated toward music and songwriting classes, and finally moved to Los Angeles to check out the music scene there. Her demos found their way to producer Humberto Gatica, and Turner began cutting tracks with Gatica and producer David Foster, but she decided it wasn't the musical direction she wanted to take. She moved to Nashville after five years in L.A., turning her attention entirely to country music. In possession of a strong, husky voice and a passion for writing songs, she came to the attention of Columbia Nashville, signing a recording contract with the imprint in the summer of 2013. Her debut single, the catchy "Take the Keys," was released by the label later that fall; it peaked at 37 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. Over the next few years, Turner concentrated on writing. She co-wrote Cody Purvis' hit "Drinking Terms" and "Bad Habit," which Kristy Lamb took to number one in Australia. Jeremy Renner also had her co-write "Never Sorry," a deep cut on his album The Medicine. Turner returned to her performing career with the release of the "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" single in 2020.
