Herbie Hancock
Herbie Hancock siempre será una de las figuras más reverenciadas y controvertidas del jazz –de la misma manera en que lo fue su jefe/mentor Miles Davis, mientras vivió. A diferencia de Miles, que implacablemente seguía adelante y nunca volvió hacia atrás hasta casi el mismísimo final, Hancock ha seguido un camino zigzagueante, de idas y vueltas entre casi todos los desarrollos del jazz y el R&B electrónico y acústico durante el último tercio del siglo xx. Aunque se cimentaba en Bill Evans y fue capaz de absorber influencias del blues, el funk, el gospel e incluso de la música clásica contemporánea, la voz de Hancock en el piano y teclados es totalmente propia, con sus exclusivas armonías urbanas y su sello de ritmos complejos y primitivos.© Richard S.
