Death By Unga Bunga
Adopting their moniker from an album by California garage rock revivalists the Mummies, Norway's Death by Unga Bunga craft full-flavored power pop confections that flirt with punk and classic rock. Having found regional success in the early 2010s, the band elicited international acclaim with sugary, hard-hitting efforts like 2016's Pineapple Pizza and 2021's Heavy Male Insecurity.
Founded in 2007 by Sebastian Ulstad Olsen (lead vocals, guitar), Preben S. Andersen (keyboards), Stian S. Gulbrandsen (guitar), Even Rolland Pettersen (bass), and Ole S. Nesset (drums), Death by Unga Bunga released their debut studio album, Juvenile Jungle, in 2010, followed by a sophomore effort, The Kids Are Up to No Good, two years later. You're an Animal arrived in 2013, with the band's fourth studio long-player Pineapple Pizza and the four-song EP Fight dropping in 2016. Late 2017 saw the release of a pair of songs, "Bye Bye" and "Into the Night," in anticipation of the arrival of the studio LP So Far So Good So Cool, which appeared in 2018 and found favor with audiences both at home and abroad. Three years later they returned with the earworm-filled Heavy Male Insecurity.
