B Wise

Having made its way over to Sydney from the South Side of Chicago in the early 2010s and later to London, England, drill – the global rap phenomenon characterized by dark themes and trap-ready beats – is in rude health Down Under thanks to Western Sydney figureheads Onefour. The troubled yet trailblazing crew – comprising five core members Spenny (Spencer Magologo), YP (Pio Misa), Celly (Dachell Ramos), Lekks (Salec Sua), and Jemz (Jerome Misa) – are all of Samoan descent and hail from the Mount Druitt suburbs of the city. They first crossed paths at school and at their local church (Church of Jesus Christ and the Latter Day Saints) before assembling as a group in 2014 and releasing the hard-boiled "Ready for War" single in 2017. Over the next few years, Onefour unleashed a string of other singles, including 2019 hit "In the Beginning" – which became the group's first single to chart, debuting at number 39 on the ARIA Charts – and 2020's "Welcome to Prison". The latter track's reflective, soft-edged vibe dials down the energy of Onefour's previous material to explore the prison system and lend support to three of the group's members – Lekks, YP and Celly – who were sentenced to prison time in 2019. In 2020, Onefour linked up with US rapper A$AP Ferg for "Say It Again" while also dropping their debut album that same year, Against All Odds, which featured a notable collaboration with Carnage and Dutchavelli on "Better".
