Astrud Gilberto
La cantante brasilera Astrud Gilberto fue una figura clave en la expansión internacional de la bossa nova durante los años sesenta gracias a su participación en el clásico Getz/Gilberto, en particular en la famosísima "The Girl From Ipanema". Influenciada tanto por el "cool jazz" norteamericano como por Tom Jobim o Jõao Gilberto (su marido de entonces), Gilberto desarrolló un estilo sensual y sutil que contrastaba enormemente con el pop ampuloso de la época. Refinada ulteriormente en una decena de discos solistas editados entre 1965 y 1972, su fusión de pop, jazz y música brasilera contribuyó a plantar las raíces de lo que luego se denominaría "world music".
