Después de cerrar la serie de “Wyoming Sessions” de Kanye West en 2018 con K.T.S.E., la nueva reina del R&B, Teyana Taylor, firma ahora este acertadamente titulado The Album. Probablemente porque Keep That Same Energy se había lanzado de forma incompleta y con 24 horas de retraso, a diferencia del Ye de Kanye, de Kids See Ghosts de Kid Cudi, de Nasir de Nasir y de Daytona de Pusha T. Probablemente porque su álbum de debut, The Misunderstanding Of Teyana Taylor – en referencia a su idolatrada Lauryn Hill – había tardado seis años en salir. Y no por casualidad, en plena resonancia con la actualidad americana, The Album señala el día de la Libertad llamado “Juneteenth”, que celebra el final de la esclavitud en los Estados Unidos.
Para este tercer álbum en G.O.O.D. Después de cerrar la serie de “Wyoming Sessions” de Kanye West en 2018 con K.T.S.E., la nueva reina del R&B, Teyana Taylor, firma ahora este acertadamente titulado The Album. Probablemente porque Keep That Same Energy se había lanzado de forma incompleta y con 24 horas de retraso, a diferencia del Ye de Kanye, de Kids See Ghosts de Kid Cudi, de Nasir de Nasir y de Daytona de Pusha T. Probablemente porque su álbum de debut, The Misunderstanding Of Teyana Taylor – en referencia a su idolatrada Lauryn Hill – había tardado seis años en salir. Y no por casualidad, en plena resonancia con la actualidad americana, The Album señala el día de la Libertad llamado “Juneteenth”, que celebra el final de la esclavitud en los Estados Unidos.
Para este tercer álbum en G.O.O.D. Music, el sello de su mentor Kanye, Taylor ha puesto todas las cosas de su lado, con colaboraciones y productores cinco estrellas que escribieron el R&B de los 90 y escriben el rap de hoy. Erykah Badu en Lowkey, Missy Elliott y Future en el lento Boomin producido por Timbaland, Quavo en Let’s Build, Rick Ross en Come Back To Me, Wyclef Jean escribiendo Ever Ever… E incluso aparece Lauryn Hill filosofando en un We Got Love pilotado por Kanye. El resultado, el doble de largo de lo habitual, con una pátina años 90 omnipresente, cepillada con muestras de 808 de Blaque (Boomin) o Just Friends de Musiq (Friends), evoca a Brandi, Aaliyah y Janet Jackson. E incluye alguna excursión, como el dancehall Bad a la manera del Work de Rihanna.
