El blues es la raíz de (casi) toda la música popular estadounidense. Keb’ Mo’ lleva en activo desde los años 70 (inicialmente bajo su nombre de pila Kevin Moore) y ha explorado a la perfección sus raíces e incluso le ha dado varias vueltas al tronco. Tras quince discos, un puñado de Grammys y un merecido reconocimiento internacional, ha decidido, con su nuevo álbum, Good To Be... tomarse un descanso bajo las ramas: soul, folk y pop. El primer tema se llama Good To Be (Home Again) (con Darius Rucker de Hootie & the Blowfish como invitado) y el último Quiet Moments. Entre los dos, uno sospecha que este álbum no va a ser un hito de la música experimental radical. Es más bien una suave envoltura de canciones para sentirse bien, el equivalente musical a un baño o a un chocolate caliente (o incluso a una bañera llena de chocolate caliente). El tono del disco lo marca su acertada versión del éxito de Bill Withers Lean On Me. Aquí escucharemos orquestaciones de cuerda, un suave órgano, coros, guitarras afinadas y la siempre juvenil y conmovedora voz de Keb’ Mo’. Las canciones que ha compuesto en este Good To Be... no son tan memorables como la melodía de Lean On Me, pero todas ellas son muy elegantes, redondean los ángulos e invitan a la relajación, la ligereza o el romance. Ideal para escuchar en la terraza de un café en primavera, este álbum confirma que la mejor sopa se sigue haciendo en ollas antiguas.
