Madeleine Peyroux creó un poco de revuelo en 1996 debido a que a veces su voz sonaba sorprendentemente parecida a la de Billie Holiday. Esta colección de gran alcance nos trae a Peyroux cantando temas clásicos y originales de swing, además de canciones que aluden a la música country y folk. Su reparto de apoyo, el cual cambia en cada selección, incluye a un moderado James Carter al clarinete tenor y bajo, Marc Ribot al dobro y la guitarra, el trompetista Marcus Printup, el pianista Cyrus Chestnut y la violinista Regina Carter, entre otros. Un lanzamiento muy interesante que, a pesar de la naturaleza poco original de la voz de Peyroux, está lleno de sorpresas. Lo más destacado incluye "Walkin' After Midnight", "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter", "La Vie en Rose" y "Muddy Water".
