En su tercer álbum luego de haber vuelto a reunirse, los Pixies consiguen lo que no habían logrado en Indie Cindy y Head Carrier: sugerir una nueva dirección para su música. La banda ya no parece tan preocupada por satisfacer las expectativas de sus viejos fans; paradójicamente, el resultado es la colección de canciones más atractiva desde su reunión.
