Acerca de la Playlist

Unwound, de la pequeña Tumwater (Washington), desempeñó un papel fundamental en la fértil escena independiente del noroeste de Estados Unidos entre 1988 y 2002. Al principio, la banda se inspiró en grupos como Sonic Youth, Wipers, Fugazi y Nirvana y los combinó con los sonidos del post-hardcore para crear una emotiva expresión juvenil de alienación y desilusión. Más tarde, añadieron la electrónica y la experimentación de estudio creando una mezcla única de agresividad punk y post-rock refinado. No paraban de girar y se les podía encontrar tocando en pequeños locales de bricolaje o teloneando a grupos de la talla de Fugazi o Sonic Youth. Tanto en el disco como en el escenario, Unwound eran una entidad musical muy fuerte, ya que los tres miembros eran únicos e igualmente atractivos de ver. Si solo se hubiera eliminado a uno de los tres, seguramente habría surgido una banda muy diferente. Creativamente, la banda siguió progresando y evolucionando con cada nueva grabación hasta el final. Fue un placer seguirles a lo largo de toda su carrera. La rica y variada discografía de la banda, junto con los conciertos de "reunión" de 2023, es una confirmación continua de ello.
