El notable debut de Joss Stone embarca al oyente en un viaje a los años dorados del R&B de los años 70, con sus irresistibles percusiones estilo fatback, su veloz órgano y su guitarra funk. Resulta comprensible que la voz joven de Stone porte elementos de sus influencias del soul, y cuando esto se combina con material imaginativo como "Fell in Love with a Girl" de los White Stripes el efecto es extraordinario. La producción clásica y reducida a los elementos básicos de la mano de la leyenda del soul Betty Wright, y la oportunidad de escuchar números con mucha clase como los de Timmy Thomas, Latimore y Willie "Little Beaver" Hale en el mismo disco son de valor.
