Diez años separan el primer recopilatorio de Dire Straits, Money for Nothing, del segundo, Sultans of Swing: The Very Best of Dire Straits. Una década es un importante intervalo de tiempo, pero Dire Straits publicó solo dos álbumes en ese período, On Every Street en 1991 y el álbum en directo On the Night en 1993.
