Although Byron Lee's music generally consists of generic easy listening versions of Jamaican and international pop hits, his impact on the music scene in Jamaica will always be huge, if for no other reason than the studio he built and owns in Kingston, Dynamic Sounds. Lee formed his Dragonaires in 1956, and his sound has gone through the usual stages of Jamaican pop, from ska to reggae to the softest dancehall you'll ever hear, and while it is easy to criticize his elevator music approach to things, his musicians -- and the horn sections in particular -- have always been top-notch. This album offers nothing even close to startling, consisting of mellow, predictable arrangements of songs like "Can't Help Falling in Love" and Irving Burgie's "Jamaica Farewell," with only the concluding track, "Golden Times of the 60's," showing anything resembling spunk.
