Nevermind nunca pretendió cambiar el mundo, pero nunca se puede saber cuándo se hará carne el zeitgeist, y el segundo disco de Nirvana resultó ser el punto en el que el rock alternativo se introducía en la corriente dominante. Esto no era del todo un accidente, ya que lo que Nirvana publicó era un disco con una superficie lustrosa, sin importar lo monumental que sonaran las guitarras. Con toda la angustia que contiene Nevermind, es vigorizante ya que Kurt Cobain exorciza sus demonios a través de juegos de palabras evocadores y gritos desgarrados, y porque la banda tiene una potencia tremenda y desenfrenada que convierte el dolor en una auténtica catarsis. Mirando hacia atrás, puede que Nevermind parezca demasiado sencillo para su estatus mítico (no es más que un gran disco de punk moderno), pero aunque ya no pueda parecer la clase de disco que le cambia la vida a uno, sin duda alguna es de los que abrazan la vida, lo cual puede ser mejor.
