Frida returned to her roots for this sublimely beautiful album, produced and written or co-written by Anders Glenmark (and it closes with a song co-written by the singer). More than two decades after she emerged as an international star, she proves that less is more, singing more quietly than on either Something's Going On or Shine, in more restrained, relatively low-wattage settings. Her work here is more expressive and personal than any of her singing on those earlier records, and also more mature -- the whole record is far removed from ABBA (as is the artist, a quarter century later). It's no surprise that the record hit number one in Sweden, and it shouldn't be ruled out by her English-speaking fans; even if you don't comprehend a word, you'll be glad to hear -- and own -- Djupa Andetag.
