Compilation européenne dans un premier temps, The Very Best of Supertramp est ce qui se rapproche le plus d’une vue d’ensemble définitive du groupe pop-prog des années 70. Quelques fans invétérés ne manqueront pas de souligner l’absence de certaines grandes chansons d’album (après tout, malgré son immense succès dans les charts pop, Supertramp était tout autant un groupe rock à albums comme ELP ou Genesis) mais tous les hits sont là, de "Bloody Well Right" à "It's Raining Again", ainsi qu’une bonne partie de leur énorme succès commercial Breakfast in America. Cela suffit à valoir le détour pour les fans occasionnels, mais le principal atout de cette collection, c’est son écoulement limpide, même si elle n’est pas chronologique. Il y a eu d’autres compilations de Supertramp, mais The Very Best of Supertramp est largement au-dessus du lot.
