Some Nights retrouve les ambitions et le son tonitruant du premier album de Fun. mais en encore plus puissant et impressionnant. Bien que l'album affiche plus d'influences hip-hop que Aim and Ignite, il y a encore des traces bien audibles de Queen ou de ELO dans l'ADN du groupe, autant dans les programmations d'harmonies vocales que dans l'ampleur gracieuse du son. Cordes, cuivres choeurs, claviers et boîte à rythmes enveloppent la voix de Nate Ruess comme la clameur d'une foule sans jamais noyer son chant sincère et ses paroles directes qui procurent aux chanson une humanité qui les empêche de s'éparpiller même dans les crescendos les plus appuyés. Réussite remarquable, Some Nights mérite chacune des louanges dont il peut faire l'objet.
