Michel et le jazz, c'est une vieille histoire. Plus d'un demi-siècle que le gamin grandi chez les jésuites a eu la révélation. "Le jazz est entré dans ma vie à l'âge de 12 ans. Pour mon anniversaire, ma mère m'avait offert un album magnifique de Ray Charles : Dedicated To You !". Du rhythm'n blues au jazz, il n'y a qu'un pas que Michel Leeb franchi allègrement, se passionnant autant pour Nat King Cole que Frank Sinatra, pour Art Blakey que tous les grands orchestres (Count Basie, Woody Hermann, Buddy Rich, Lionel Hampton, Duke Ellington, etc.). Il tourne longtemps avec le big band de Gérard Badini et enregistre même avec celui de Count Basie. Sa vie est ainsi ponctuée de "repères" qu'il célèbre ici dans ce disque bien nommé. Les arrangements et la direction d'orchestre sont assurés par Pierre Bertrand, la batterie, par André Ceccarelli.
