Ce volume 14 des Bootleg Series de Bob Dylan est sans doute le plus attendu puisqu’il concerne l’album que beaucoup de ses fans considèrent comme son plus grand : Blood on the Tracks. Dans son autobiographie, le Zim citera Tchekhov comme inspiration majeure de ce disque publié en janvier 1975. Mais c’est évidemment la séparation d’avec sa femme Sara qui hante ce chef-d’œuvre. Sa prose touche au sublime, et chaque mot est un paysage de l’âme, juste, sans aucune faute de goût. Son folk-rock est orné d’une rythmique présente mais jamais en surpoids, d’une instrumentation de goût et de chapelets de guitares juste là pour chanter la mélodie. Toutes ses saynètes introspectives, à l’écriture pure et sobre, montre un Dylan plus humain que jamais, artistiquement revitalisé par cette période personnellement douloureuse. Bref, un Dylan magistral qui alterne entre chansons mélancoliques, coups de gueule et, comme à son habitude, pièces mystérieuses.

Ce coffret de plus de 80 titres propose chronologiquement les séances new-yorkaises ainsi que celles de Minneapolis. Dylan avait réalisé une première version de son disque, décidant de tout réenregistrer sur les conseils de son frère David Zimmerman. L’album officiel mélangera des prises des deux sessions. Faux départs, tâtonnements, prises alternatives, changements de tempo ou d’instrumentation, c’est l’élaboration de A à Z de Blood on the Tracks qui traverse les oreilles tout au long de ce dantesque More Blood, More Tracks: The Bootleg Series Vol. 14 (Deluxe Edition). Chronique

Ce volume 14 des Bootleg Series de Bob Dylan est sans doute le plus attendu puisqu’il concerne l’album que beaucoup de ses fans considèrent comme son plus grand : Blood on the Tracks. Dans son autobiographie, le Zim citera Tchekhov comme inspiration majeure de ce disque publié en janvier 1975. Mais c’est évidemment la séparation d’avec sa femme Sara qui hante ce chef-d’œuvre. Sa prose touche au sublime, et chaque mot est un paysage de l’âme, juste, sans aucune faute de goût. Son folk-rock est orné d’une rythmique présente mais jamais en surpoids, d’une instrumentation de goût et de chapelets de guitares juste là pour chanter la mélodie. Toutes ses saynètes introspectives, à l’écriture pure et sobre, montre un Dylan plus humain que jamais, artistiquement revitalisé par cette période personnellement douloureuse. Bref, un Dylan magistral qui alterne entre chansons mélancoliques, coups de gueule et, comme à son habitude, pièces mystérieuses.

Ce coffret de plus de 80 titres propose chronologiquement les séances new-yorkaises ainsi que celles de Minneapolis. Dylan avait réalisé une première version de son disque, décidant de tout réenregistrer sur les conseils de son frère David Zimmerman. L’album officiel mélangera des prises des deux sessions. Faux départs, tâtonnements, prises alternatives, changements de tempo ou d’instrumentation, c’est l’élaboration de A à Z de Blood on the Tracks qui traverse les oreilles tout au long de ce dantesque More Blood, More Tracks: The Bootleg Series Vol. 14 (Deluxe Edition).
