Pour The Gospel According to the Other Mary, leur septième opus, Sellars et Adams renouvellent une expérience déjà entreprise avec bonheur dans El Niño : l’opéra-oratorio. Empruntant son imagerie aux rites funéraires traditionnels mexicains, The Gospel According to the Other Mary se veut une relecture de l’histoire de Lazare et de la Passion du Christ : le Nouveau Testament y est lu au travers du prisme d’écrivains et poètes américains et latino-américains. Un disque prodigieux où le Los Angeles Philharmonic étincelle sous la direction toujours inspirée de Gustavo Dudamel !
