« Né en Silésie, Johann-Gottlieb Janitsch entre en 1736 dans l'orchestre du prince-héritier de Prusse. Lorsque ce dernier devient en 1740 le roi Frédéric II, il le suit à Berlin et reste à son service jusqu'à sa mort. Collègue et ami de Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Janitsch lui est très apparenté musicalement.
