Fan d’Auto-Tune, passe ton chemin ! Car pour son deuxième album solo, le bad boy du rock anglais revient à ses fondamentaux. En bon dandy décadent, Pete Doherty, pardon Peter Doherty fait ici ce qu’il sait le mieux faire. Du rock classique mélancolique à la poésie désabusée et toujours balancé avec sincérité. Enregistré à Hambourg, Hamburg Demonstrations souligne la singularité de sa plume comme sa capacité à retranscrire en chanson ses démons intérieurs comme ceux de son époque. Un regard tout là-haut en direction d’Amy Winehouse (Flags Of The Old Régime), une rengaine écrite au soir des attentats du Bataclan (Hell To Pay At The Gates Of Heaven), des déambulations un brin imbibées façon Pogues et toujours cette sensation d’honnêteté, à la vie à la mort. Après Grace/Wastlands en solitaire en 2009 et Anthems For Doomed Youth avec les Libertines en 2015, Doherty continue d’arpenter toujours aussi chaotiquement la planète rock.
