Malgré les cinq années de silence qui séparent Everything Else Has Gone Wrong de So Long, See You Tomorrow, la beauté formelle de la pop kaléidoscopique de Bombay Bicycle Club est restée intacte. Et ce cinquième album a bien les formes d’un cocon douillet, frais et multicolore. Cette sensation de bien-être parcourt le moindre recoin du cinquième album des Londoniens qu’on a parfois comparés à Vampire Weekend. Depuis leurs débuts, les membres de BBC ont toujours excellé à passer d’un genre à l’autre, aussi à l’aise dans l’indie rock classique que le folk, la pop psyché voire la synthpop. Refrains imparables, production jamais artificielle (le Texan John Congleton, ayant travaillé notamment avec St. Vincent, est derrière la console), mix parfait d’électronique et d’instruments acoustiques et électriques et harmonies vocales très classe, Everything Else Has Gone Wrong est l’aboutissement des quinze ans d’existence d’un groupe plus important qu’il n’y paraît. © Clotilde Maréchal/Qobuz
