L’heure semble cruciale pour Anderson East. Avec Encore, le natif de l'Alabama laisse les clés de la production à l’excellent Dave Cobb et confie la plume de certains titres à des experts comme Chris Stapleton (King for a Day et If You Keep Leaving Me) et Ed Sheeran (All on My Mind). Surtout, le bonhomme se montre sous son visage le plus sincère. Ses racines sudistes font donc solidement surface dans son alliage de country mâtinée de soul music (l’ambiance très Otis Redding de If You Keep Leaving Me) ou de blues (Somebody Pick Up My Pieces). Au cœur de cette fusion des musiques classiques américaines, Anderson East glisse même des reprises de Ted Hawkins (Sorry You're Sick) et de Willie Nelson (Somebody Pick Up My Pieces, donc). Avec un équilibre parfait entre sonorités vintage de country soul et une approche toujours bien contemporaine, Encore est un disque populaire attachant.
