Il y a 30 ans, le 3 mai 1987, Dalida disparaissait à seulement 54 ans. Six mois après cet anniversaire, Ibrahim Maalouf rend hommage à « cette femme touchante qui a fait danser la francophonie pendant plusieurs décennies sur des mélodies envoutantes et des paroles profondes qu'on n'écoute pourtant pas assez. » Avec Dalida By Ibrahim Maalouf, le trompettiste a à ses côtés des artistes qu’il aime et respecte, tous capables d'incarner, selon lui, l'une des nombreuses facettes de la voix et de la personnalité de Dalida, « cette femme multiculturelle, à la fois orientale et européenne, à la fois latine, passionnée et timide, secrète, capable de faire danser et groover, comme de faire pleurer et rêver. » Internationale, l’affiche épate avec son casting à 360° avec Souchon, Melody Gardot, Matthieu Chedid, Monica Bellucci, Izia, Mika, Thomas Dutronc, Rokia Traore, Arno, Ben l’Oncle Soul et la comédienne Golshifteh Farahani. Evidemment les talents d’arrangeurs de Maalouf lui permettent d’unifier un brin cet éclectisme vocal et de proposer une partition soignée, très éloignée de celle d’origine.
