1984-1987 : la métamorphose de George Michael

Au milieu des années 1980, alors qu’il est au faîte de sa gloire avec Wham!, George Michael décide de se lancer dans une carrière solo qui fera de lui une star planétaire, avec des tubes comme “Faith” ou “Freedom’ 90”. Au moment où sort le documentaire “George Michael Freedom Uncut”, qui raconte son parcours, Qobuz revient sur la “métamorphose” du chanteur anglais.

Tropicalisme : l'histoire d'une révolution brésilienne

À la fin des années 60, une bande de jeunes artistes brésiliens s’insurge contre la junte militaire au pouvoir en fusionnant musique populaire locale, rock et avant-garde. Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Os Mutantes et leurs amis inventent le tropicalisme, l’une des aventures musicales les plus originales du XXe siècle.

Le Prince des années 80

Dans la famille funk, Prince Rogers Nelson, qui a nous a quittés il y a cinq ans, en avril 2016, fut un genre à lui seul. En presque 40 ans de carrière, il a réussi à mêler l’héritage des pères fondateurs (James Brown, Sly Stone et George Clinton) à des influences aussi bien rock’n’roll qu’électroniques voire jazz. Un groove exubérant et bluffant qui brilla essentiellement entre 1978 et 1988…
