2020, année Beethoven pour cause de 250e anniversaire de naissance, soit 7 ans avant le bicentenaire… de sa mort. Aux côtés de moult rééditions des pianistes d’hier et même d’avant-hier, cette nouvelle intégrale des (trente-deux) Sonates est présentée par un musicien (de trente-deux ans). Né en Russie à l’extrême fin de la période soviétique, Igor Levit s’est formé à Hanovre et à Salzbourg avant de remporter plusieurs concours internationaux. En 2013, son premier enregistrement pour Sony Classical est consacré aux dernières Sonates de Beethoven (les n° 28 à 32, reprises dans la présente intégrale), est très remarqué. Il grave ensuite deux grands cycles de variations, les Variations Goldberg de Bach et les Diabelli de Beethoven et en tire un grand succès. Projet gigantesque, ce nouveau cycle a été réalisé entre 2013 et 2019 dans plusieurs villes allemandes. Les acoustiques différentes ne nuisent pas à la cohérence de l’ensemble ni à la beauté du toucher et de la sonorité d’Igor Levit. Cet enregistrement très attendu sera suivi de plusieurs intégrales en concert, notamment à Hambourg, à Stockholm et à Lucerne au cours de l’année 2020. © François Hudry/Qobuz
