Thomas Fersen

Thomas Fersen is a French singer/songwriter whose dynamic musical style and poetic lyrics have brought him increasing popularity over the years. He was long associated with Vincent Frèrebeau's label Tôt ou Tard. Born on January 4, 1963, in Paris, France, Fersen got his start in the punk scene before becoming a solo artist with his 1993 debut, Le Bal des Oiseaux. The album was well received critically, as were the successive full-length releases Les Ronds de Carotte (1995), Le Jour du Poisson (1997), Thom4s Fersen (1999), and the triple-disc live album Triplex (2001), but it wasn't until Pièce Montée des Grands Jours (2003) that Fersen's popularity became widespread in the French-language world. Not only was Pièce Montée des Grands Jours a Top Five hit on the French albums chart, it also charted in neighboring Belgium and Switzerland. In the wake of Fersen's breakthrough success with Pièce Montée des Grands Jours, a live album, La Cigale des Grands Jours (2004), was released, plus a career retrospective compilation, Gratte Moi la Puce: Best of de Poche (2007). Subsequent albums, including Le Pavillon des Fous (2005) and Trois Petits Tours (2008), were also highly successful, charting Top Ten and Top Five, respectively. In 2011, he released Je Suis au Paradis, which was followed two years later by a collaborative album with French group the Ginger Accident. Fersen's tenth studio LP, 2017's Un Coup de Queue de Vache, featured accompaniment by a string quartet.
