Night Flowers

Indie pop quintet Night Flowers cast a warm spell of dreamy guitar pop and dulcet boy/girl vocals that result in a wistful, romantic sound. Based in London, but with Northern English roots and an American singer, the band rode a steady stream of singles and EPs in the mid-2010s to critical acclaim, both in the U.K. and Japan. 2018 debut, Wild Notion, introduced them to a bigger audience and they built upon their success with 2019's Fortune Teller. Originally hailing from up north in Humberside, the band's initial lineup consisted of singer Hetty Ullyart, singer/guitarist Greg Ullyart, guitarist/singer Chris Hardy, bassist Sam Lenthall, and drummer Zebedee Budworth. Night Flowers soon relocated to London where, after the 2014 release of their self-titled EP, Boston native Sophia Pettit replaced Hetty Ullyart on lead vocals. With their retooled Transatlantic lineup secured, the group began to pick up steam, touring alongside similarly toned indie pop bands like the Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Japanese Breakfast while delivering an array of beguiling singles like "Glow in the Dark" and "Chaser." A tour of Japan and subsequent Sleep EP for Japanese label Rimeout Recordings in 2016 helped pave the way for their 2018 full-length debut, Wild Notion. Released on U.K. indie Dirty Bingo Records, Wild Notion was warmly received by fans and critics and widened Night Flowers' exposure significantly. They continued to evolve their wistful guitar pop on their follow-up, Fortune Teller.
