Kai

A highly-regarded K-pop vocalist and dancer, Kai performed in the boy bands Exo and SuperM before debuting as a solo artist with 2020's self-titled Kai. He was born as "Kim Jong-in" in Suncheon, South Korea, on January 14, 1994, and began taking dance lessons while still attending grade school. Kai joined the multi-lingual pop group Exo in 2011 and appeared on the group's string of Number 1 singles, including 2014's "December, 2014 (The Winter's Tale)," 2015's "Love Me Right," 2016's "Monster," 2017's "Ko Ko Bop," and 2018's "Love Shot." In 2019, he joined another group, SuperM, whose lineup featured members from multiple K-pop boy bands. SuperM, the group's self-titled debut EP, was released in 2019 and climbed to Number 1 on the United States' Billboard 200, becoming the first debut record from a South Korean act to top the chart. "Jopping," the EP's lead single, also peaked at Number 1 on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart. Super One, the group's first full-length record, followed in 2020 and enjoyed commercial success in multiple countries, peaking at Number 1 in South Korea and Number 2 in the US. Kai began releasing records as a solo act that same year, beginning with a self-titled EP, Kai, in November. The record peaked at Number 3 in South Korea, where it was later certified platinum, and was followed in 2021 by the Number 2 hit Peaches. "Peaches," the EP's title track, became a hit in several countries, cracking the Top 40 in Singapore, Malaysia, Brazil, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
