Eric Chou

Eric Chou is the stage name of Zhou Xing Zhe, a Taiwanese singer-songwriter and the composer of several hit theme songs for TV dramas in Taiwan and China. Eric was born in Taiwan but moved to Boston at the age of 12 to attend boarding school, returning to Taiwan at the age of 18. Encouraged by his mother, he played classical piano from an early age and began songwriting. Eric was discovered by a representative of Sony Music Taiwan when he sang at his uncle's wedding. After showing them a few of his original songs, he was encouraged to write more and began recording for his debut album 'My Way to Love'. The album was released in 2014 and contained the single 'Let's Not Be Friends in the Future', a ballad based on Eric's personal experience of rejection and heartbreak. Chosen as the ending song for the Taiwanese TV series 'The Way We Were', the song was further developed with the help of the lyricist Wu Yi Wei and the award-winning arranger Chen Jian Qi. The video for the single became a viral sensation (now approaching 150 million views on YouTube), featuring shots of Eric playing a piano as it is transported along the coast, onto the beach and then underwater. Eric's second album 'What Love Has Taught Us' was released in 2016 and contained two singles that were used as the theme songs for the TV series 'Magical Space-Time' and 'Life List'. The following year, Eric wrote the theme song for the micro movie 'The Most Precious Thing of Love, the Voice.' He also released his third studio album 'The Chaos After You' (2017), featuring a new EDM influence alongside the expected piano ballads. In January 2019, Eric Chou returned with the 'Freedom' EP featuring the single 'What's Wrong'.
