Eman Lam

Born October 25, 1982, Cantopop singer Eman Lam, the younger sister of Hong Kong singer and songwriter Chet Lam, first shot to fame in the pop duo at17 alongside Ellen Joyce Loo. The two met while competing separately in a singing competition in 2000. They joined forces and signed to People Mountain People Sea the next year. They enjoyed a nearly-decade long run of success before Loo went solo. Her solo debut, Eman Lam, came out in 2012. She recorded the follow-up, 2014’s On the Go, while also working as a radio personality. The album featured a more mature look from the one-time teen star. The first single from the album, “Do You Love Me”, was written specifically for her by Loo, who also co-wrote another track, “Taking”. The duo reformed at17 for a series of shows in 2017. Loo passed away in 2018 after a tragic fall. In 2020 Lam won Best Original Score at the Hong Kong Film Awards for her work on My Prince Edward. At that same ceremony, her former bandmate posthumously won Best Original Film Song for a different movie.
